Uzbek combine completes construction of mining and processing complex

Almalyk Mining and Smelting Combine (Almalik city, Tashkent region), the largest copper producer in Central Asia, has completed construction of mining and processing complex in Kashkadarya region in the south. The complex costs $147 million, a source in the leadership of the Combine said Tuesday.

The complex is planned to be put into operation by later this year. The first products of the mining company, which is currently running in test regime, will be released in January 2011.

In total in 2011-2012 the processing plant operating on the basis of Khandiza field plans to process 450,000 tons of ore per year. The plant will take the full capacity - 650,000 tons a year - by 2013.
Production capacity of the processing plant is 5,000 tons of copper concentrate, 20,000 tons of lead concentrate and 60,000 tons of zinc concentrate annually.
