Black ink in Uzbekistan's foreign trade increases

Foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan made up US$15.507 billion in January-September 2010 (+0.2% year-on-year), the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said. At the same time, trade turnover of Uzbekistan with the CIS states comprised US$6.481 billion and other states - US$9.027 billion.

At the same time, some US$9.566 billion of total trade turnover of Uzbekistan fell to share of export operations and US$5.941 billion to import operations.

According to the committee, exports of Uzbekistan to the CIS states rose by 40.2% year-on-year in January-September 2010 to US$4.181 billion. While the volume of export to other states decreased by 4.6% year-on-year to US$5.384 billion.

The volume of import in Uzbekistan with the CIS states reached US$2.298 billion in January-September 2010, which is down by 22.2% year-on-year. Import of Uzbekistan from other countries fell by 6.5% year-on-year to US$3.643 billion.

In the reporting period, the share of the CIS states in trade turnover of Uzbekistan made up 41.8% (38.4% in January-September 2009) and other states - 58.2% (61.6%).

Share of other countries in export of Uzbekistan decreased from 65.4% in January-September 2009 to 56.3% in the same period of 2010, while share of the CIS countries rose from 34.6% to 43.7% respectively.

Share of the CIS states in Uzbekistan's imports decreased to 38.7% (43.1% in January-September 2009), while share of other countries grew to 61.3% (56.9%).

Unbalance in foreign trade was 161% versus 125.9% in the corresponding period of the previous year, the committee said.

Current trade balance surplus in January-September 2010 made up US$3.625 billion, including with the CIS states - US$1.883 billion and other states - US$1.741 billion.
