Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has today received Deputy Chairman of Turkmenistan's Cabinet of Ministers Khidir Saparliyev, AzerTaj state news agency reported.
The Turkmen deputy Premier conveyed President Gurbangulu Berdymuhammedov's greetings to the Azerbaijani leader.
Mr. Saparliyev said the Turkmen leader placed a particular emphasis on developing relations with Azerbaijan. He praised the work of an Intergovernmental Joint Commission. Mr. Saparliyev said the Turkmen leader gave additional instructions aimed at increasing the effectiveness of the commission's work.
President Aliyev recalled his recent meeting with the Turkmen leader in Baku, noting they had effective talks.
The Azerbaijani leader described the Baku summit, which took place in an atmosphere of cooperation among Caspian littoral states, as a success. The president said the summit marked the making of good decisions.
President Aliyev praised the bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan. He said they discussed with his Turkmen counterpart Gurbangulu Berdymuhammedov important issues related to the bilateral relations.
The president asked Mr. Saparliyev to extend his greetings to the Turkmen President.
