First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Uzbekistan Rustam Azimov and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton signed an intergovernmental agreement on scientific and technical cooperation on Thursday in Tashkent.
The agreement creates a legal framework for cooperation between government agencies, research centers, universities and private companies of the two countries in science and technology.
The goals of the agreement are to strengthen scientific and technological capacities of the parties, expand and develop relations between scientific and technological communities of both countries, as well as facilitate technical and scientific cooperation for peaceful purposes in the fields of mutual interest.
