Azerbaijan reveals over 9,700 low-quality New Year gifts

The State Service for Antimonopoly Policy and Consumer Protection under the Azerbaijani Economic Development Ministry within the ongoing monitoring revealed the manufacturer of low-quality New Year gifts - the "Bolluq LTD" company, the ministry said.

Within the monitoring the State Service revealed that the expiration date of confectionery products, packed as New Year gifts, exceeds the expiration date as defined by normative documents. The expiration date of cookies of "Piknik" and "Sport" brands, which were included in the gift, was indicated as six months, while it is three months on normative documents. On the "Celli" marmalade and chocolate wafers, the expiration date of which, according to normative documents, is three months, manufacturing date and expiration date were not specified. In general, the expiration date of the New Year gift, packed at the enterprise, is specified as six months.

In connection with the law violations the sale of 9,790 gifts available in the storehouse of the enterprise has been suspended and the company has been instructed to withdraw its products from retail markets.

The State Service is continuing to investigate the facts and recommends consumers not to buy New Year gifts, packed by "Bolluq LTD".
