Trade turnover between Kazakhstan and China increased by half

The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and China increased by 51.5 percent - up to $16.49 billion between January-October 2010, the ministry told Trend while referring to China's customs statistics. "The share of exports amounted to $9.02 billion for 10 months (an increase of 84.5 percent), while the share of imports stood at 7,47 billion (24,4 percent), the report said.

Kazakhstan achieved its export growth through an increase in the supply of mineral products and metals, the explanatory note said. Imports from China mainly featured textile, machinery, equipment, chemical products, metal products, ceramics and glass, and consumer goods.

Today, Chinese Foreign Minister, Yang Jiechi paid an official visit to Astana. The visit will include discussing the forthcoming visit of Kazakh President to China.

China ranked fourth on the list of trading partners with Kazakhstan. China's share in foreign trade with Kazakhstan exceeds 15 percent. Kazakhstan, in turn, is the second largest trading partner of China in the CIS (after Russia).
