Georgia, Tbilisi, Dec.30 / Trend N. Kirtskhalia /
Georgia went overboard with its privatization plan for 2010, as the country privatized 263 facilities and issued 210,000 licenses, the Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Vera Kobalia said at the final press conference of the year.
The minister said plans for next year are to make the process of state property privatization more transparent, for which an electronic system of privatization will be introduced. Kobalia announced the main priorities of the ministry for 2011, saying that the focus will be on certifying the Georgian sailors, eliminating the shortcomings in the system of diplomas and restoring the prestige of the Georgian diplomas.
According to Kobalia, another priority for next year will be the country's full integration into a single European airspace, for which a network of airports, introduction of European standards in the system of security and successful passing of the audit of the International Civil Aviation Organization has been planned.
"The Kutaisi and Zugdidi airports will be completely rehabilitated, passenger infrastructure (bus) will be put in order, security in the transport sector and the mechanisms of supervision over the service quality will be improved. The ministry also plans to implement a number of tourism development projects, including project for creating culinary school and construction of two and three-star hotels in regions," Kobalia said.
