It was planned to introduce compulsory insurance from disability in Azerbaijan resulting from occupational diseases and accidents at work 20 years ago. But this law would not work that period, Sattar Mehbalyev, the chairman of the Azerbaijani Confederation of Trade Unions, said.

"The companies, operating in Azerbaijan those days, did not have these financial opportunities and worked without a profit," he said.

He said that there is a serious economic development in Azerbaijan now. The enterprises get profit.

All big companies will apply the new law. The small and medium enterprises will have to cut some expenses to provide their employees with compulsory insurance.
