Turkish company to build large fertilizer plant in Turkmenistan

The State Concern Turkmenchemistry will enter into a contract with Turkish company Ronesans Turkmen Inshaat Sanayi ve Ticaret AS, for the construction of a large mineral fertilizers production plant, an official Turkmen source reported.

The plants with the capacity of 400,000 tons of ammonia and 640,000 tons of carbamide per year will be built in Mary town. The new deal will allow identifying the challenges faced by the chemical industry, fully securing the agricultural producers of mineral fertilizers, as well as increasing the country's export potential.

The agreement includes supply, installation, adjustment of manufacturing equipment on terms of the demolition of existing facilities and unfinished buildings on the construction site, construction and connection of electricity, gas, water supply and sewerage systems to the municipal supply system at the expense of the contractor.

In accordance with the document the construction is to start in Jan. 2011 and finish in June 2014.
