SKOK to assist Azerbaijan in improving legislation on credit unions

In order to further get familiarized with the leading international experience in the field of credit cooperatives, Azerbaijan Credit Unions Association (AKİA) has invited an international consultant from Poland - the head of the Warsaw office of the National Association of Cooperative Savings and Credit Unions of Poland (SKOK) Paul Gzheshik, AKİA reported on Monday. Gzheshik's visit started to Baku on Jan. 9.

In order to further get familiarized with the leading international experience in the field of credit cooperatives, Azerbaijan Credit Unions Association (AKİA) has invited an international consultant from Poland - the head of the Warsaw office of the National Association of Cooperative Savings and Credit Unions of Poland (SKOK) Paul Gzheshik, AKİA reported on Monday. Gzheshik's visit started to Baku on Jan. 9.

During the visit, he is supposed to meet with the representatives of the Central Bank, Parliament, the Ministry of Finance and the Baku office of the World Bank. The visit of the Polish consultant will run until Jan. 20.

Polish expert's visit was made possible through WB Agricultural Development and Crediting Project. The purpose of the visit is to conduct further consultations with the representatives of the responsible authorities of Azerbaijan in order to improve the existing legislation on credit unions operating in the country.
