Uzbekistan to reduce administrative personnel of state agencies

Uzbekistan will reduce the number of personnel in public and economic administration by 6,730 units, or 10 percent, a source in the government of the Republic said with reference to a decree by President Islam Karimov.

Uzbekistan will reduce the number of personnel in public and economic administration by 6,730 units, or 10 percent, a source in the government of the Republic said with reference to a decree by President Islam Karimov.

The source said according to the document, the number of posts of deputy heads of agencies of public and economic administration will be reduced and from Jan. 1, 2011, a new limit will be established on the number of employees of managerial personnel of these agencies and their subordinate organizations.
The source said that special commissions have been created in public and economic administration to reduce the number of workers. Within two months, the commissions will determine the list of job reductions and report thereon to the Finance Ministry of the Republic.

Later, these agencies will be accountable to the Ministry of Finance on a quarterly basis on the number of managerial staff and support staff to monitor compliance with the established maximum number of personnel.

Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Uzbekistan and its local agencies are in charge of taking measures to promote employment of workers dismissed.
Today, 14 ministries, nine state committees, seven agencies, three committees, 10 associations and concerns, seven unions, 21 companies and others operate in the system of public and economic governance.
