Azerbaijan International Road Carriers Association (ABADA) issued roughly 7,400 TIR Cornet books needed for non-obstacle passage of state borders during international cargo transportation in 2010, the Association Chairman Tofig Nurullayev said.
He said that according to forecasts, this year the number of issued TIR Cornet books will be approximately equal to last year's figure.
"In 2010, 7,400 books were issued, which is lower than in 2009. In 2011, the number of issued books will be closer to last year's figure," Nurullayev said.
According to ABADA chairman, forecasts for the issuance of books for 2011 are related to a decrease in the number of the Association's members. Currently, their number hits 62 compared to 65 in early 2010. A decrease in the number of the ABADA members is due to sale of vehicles by certain members during global financial crisis.
ABADA is a non-profitable organization uniting Azerbaijani physical and legal entities engaged in international cargo transportation by road. ABADA was established in May 1993 and is the IRU member since November 1993. Association issues TIR Carnet books only to its members who have their own rolling stock, which comply with the set rules.
