Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 5 /Trend, I.Khalilova/

Azerbaijani Ministry of Transport is developing proposals to increase penalties for violations of norms of cargo transportation by freight vehicles on the road, Director of Azeryolservis JSC under the Transport Ministry Javid Gurbanov told Trend.

"We propose to increase the amount of penalties by two or three times for violating cargo weight standards," said Gurbanov.

"We propose to increase the penalties for the harm caused by trucks (the destruction of roads and bridges)," said Gurbanov.

The destruction of roads forces the state to spend additional funds on their recovery, said Gurbanov.

Roughly 30-35 billion manat will be required for rehabilitation and construction of roads in Azerbaijan, Gurbanov said earlier.

He said that 3-3,5 billion manat were spent for construction and road reconstruction for six years, of which one billion manat fell to the share of international borrowing, and the remaining funds were allocated from the state budget.
