Consumer prices and tariffs for services increased by 0.8 percent in Azerbaijan in January, the State Statistics Committee reported.
Food prices rose by 1.5 percent in January, while non-food products remained unchanged, tariffs for paid services rendered to population reduced in price by 0.4 percent.
Last month, food products such as rice, semolina, meat, chicken, fresh fish, pasta, unpasteurized milk, cheese, butter, vegetable oil, lemon, oranges, tangerines, apples, pears, quince, pomegranate , oriental persimmon, chestnuts, cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes, pepper, garlic, onions, potatoes and cigarettes rose in price.
Within the month also reduction in price was observed for such food products as wheat flour, floury products, buckwheat, eggs, margarine, bananas, greens, carrots.
In January from paid services rendered to the population tariffs for international and domestic passenger traffic by air transport reduced in price, while rose for passenger traffic by rail.
