Control strengthens on product quality in Azerbaijan

State Committee on Standardization, Metrology and Patents submitted to the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration two bills - on technical regulation and unification of measurement, Head of the State Committee Ramiz Hasanov said to a news conference at the headquarters of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party.

In particular, Hasanov said that after consultations with relevant government agencies, draft laws on technical regulations and conformity assessment and on unification of measurement were submitted to the government. The State Committee has also prepared a bill on accreditation
The head of the State Committee said that the entry into force of the law on technical regulation and conformity assessment will provide state control over the market, particularly over the quality of goods produced in the country.

"The law does not envisage interference in the activities of enterprises. In accordance with its provisions, the products and their conformity with requirements will be studied. In particular, in case of the water production, its compliance with requirements will be analyzed," said Hasanov.

According to him, the work in this regard will not affect the equipment and production technology, which the enterprises use. Checking of compliance with quality standards will be implemented through the study of ready products on the market.

In total, the State Committee has prepared 37 regulatory documents, of which ten deal with overall issues, eight - in the field of petroleum and petroleum products, four - engineering, 11 - processed milk products and meat, four - products of light industry.
