Uzbekistan increases cargo transportation 9.9 percent in 2010

Some 1.173 billion tonnes of cargoes were carried by all types of transport in Uzbekistan in January-December 2010, which increased by 9.9% year-on-year. The freight turnover remained at the level of 2009 and made up 75.8 billion t-km, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.

Some 1.173 billion tonnes of cargoes were carried by all types of transport in Uzbekistan in January-December 2010, which increased by 9.9% year-on-year. The freight turnover remained at the level of 2009 and made up 75.8 billion t-km, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.

The committee said that 1.063 billion tonnes of freights were carried by motor transport in 2010, which is 10.8% compared to 2009. Thefreight turnover has increased by 5.7% to 24.5 billion t-km.

The freight turnover of motor transport of individual entrepreneurs grew by 9.4% year-on-year to 17.7 billion t-km. The share of private carriers in totalfreight turnover of motor transport was 72.1% versus 69.7% in January-December 2009.

Some 29,400 tonnes of freights were carried by air transport, which is 84.9% more compared to January-December 2009. The freight turnover has increased by 63.3% and made 168 million t-km.

Railway transported shipped 56.9 million tonnes of cargo in 2010, which is up 3.9% year-on-year. The freight turnover has increased by 0.2% and made 22.2 billion t-km.

Main pipelines transported 53.7 billion tonnes of cargoes in the reporting period. The freight turnover of main pipelines has decreased by 4.8% to 28.9 billion t-km.

Share of motor transport in total volume of transportation made up 90.6% (89.9% in 2009), main pipelines - 4.6% (5%), railway transport - 4.8% (5.1%) and air transport - 0.003% (0.001%).
