The Azerbaijani Tourism Agencies Association (ATAA) will make proposals to reduce prices on tourist services as a part of the Year of Tourism, ATAA Chief Nahid Bagirov said.

"We intend to appeal to hotel owners to provide such benefits under the Year of Tourism in an attempt to stimulate the tourist inflow," Bagirov said.

The ATAA has already agreed with several tourism facilities that prices for groups of 10 or more employees will be reduced by 50 percent.

The ATAA was created with the Tourism and Culture Ministry's assistance in January 2009. The board members include the CEOs of Improtex Travel, Caspian Travel, Pasha Travel, Silkway Travel, and Euroturizm.

The association protects the interests of travel agencies, develops bills, recommendations and regulations, and assists in establishing national travel companies. It develops plans to conduct training and seminars for market participants, creates conditions for advertising Azerbaijani tourism at annual international exhibitions; develops domestic tourism, and presents tourism products at the world market.

The association also tries to develop and introduce congressional tourism, and help to train specialists in the management and services, etc.
