The WB mission, headed by Manager Pedro Rodriguez held the talks with representatives of the Azerbaijani State Securities Committee on April 7 to determine the basic points of a program of joint economic research of World Bank and the government, the committee said.
The trends of developing the securities market and the economy of Azerbaijan were also discussed within the meeting.
Chairman of the Azerbaijani State Securities Committee Rufat Aslanli participated in the meeting. He stressed the need of implementing a program of joint economic research to determine the model of economic development of Azerbaijan for the new period. It is important to pay special attention to the human capital development, a flexible business environment, as well as maintaining macroeconomic stability.
Rodriguez said that the program of joint economic research will provide impetus to the institutional development and diversification of non-oil sector of Azerbaijan.
The views on expanding the mechanisms of capitalization of the private sector, strengthening of financial accountability, improving the competitiveness of the financial sector were also exchanged within the meeting.
