Japan provided a grant worth 260 million yen ($3.12 million) to Azerbaijan in the Azerbaijani government's food security program for poor farmers.
The corresponding grant agreement was signed between the government and the Japan for International Cooperation Agency.
"Thanks to the further strengthening of Japanese-Azerbaijani relations, special emphasis is made on continuing the food security program for poor farmers in Azerbaijan," the Agriculture Ministry reported.
The state program to ensure the reliable provision of food to the population in 2008-2015 was approved on Aug. 25, 2008.
