MAN, Uzavtosanoat build new truck plant in Uzbekistan

German MAN Truck & Bus AG and Uzavtosanoat began constructing a new plant producing heavy trucks in the Samarkand region of Uzbekistan, Uzavtosanoat said.

"The ceremony of laying a capsule in the foundation of a new industrial complex "JV MAN Auto-Uzbekistan" was held in the suburbs of Samarkand on April 11," the company.

The assembly, a paint workshop and a diagnostic area, designed to produce up to 6,000 trucks and chassis per year, will be built within the first phase - in 2011-2013 with the ability to increase the capacity up to 10,000 units per year.

The dealer and service centers will be also constructed for servicing of vehicles.

In general, the production capacity up to 20,000 units per year will be created in the long-term prospect. The project is planned to be financed by the founders' investments and credit resources.

The press-office has not reported about the cost of the project.
