In January-March, the volume of construction work in Azerbaijan increased by 12.9 percent compared to the same period of 2010, the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan said.
The volume of construction work conducted by state-owned enterprises comprised 29.7 percent, while private sector - 70.3 percent.
Some 71.8 percent of the total amount of construction work accounted for new buildings, reconstruction and expansion work, 19.1 percent - major repairs, 4 percent - current repairs, 5.1 percent - other construction work, the committee said.
In the first quarter, 66,400 people were involved in the construction sector of Azerbaijan. During this period nominal wage level in the construction sector amounted to 510.3 manat, which is 6.5 percent more than the same period of 2010. Wages in major and small construction companies during this period amounted to 352.9 manat increasing by 2.6 percent, in private companies 643.1 manat increasing by 4.8 percent.
Nominal wage levels in major and small construction companies during this period amounted to 535.3 manat. The level of wages in the sphere of construction of buildings increased by 11 percent during the year and amounted to 543.9 manat, wage on civil construction works amounted to 344.4 manat increasing by 19.4 percent, in the specialized construction decreased by 5.6 percent to 580.3 manat.
The official exchange rate is 0.7917 manat to $1 on April 22.
