Recommendations provided by the Azerbaijani Culture and Tourism Ministry to tourism companies on coordination of the price set by them with Azerbaijani citizens' financial opportunities, as well as with the quality of rendered services, are already yielding results, Head of Study Work, Statistics and Licensing Sector of the Tourism Ministry Rahman Orujlu said in an interview with "Emlak Bazarı" magazine issued by the Property Market Participants Organization.
He said every year the ministry organizes business trips to the regions, monitoring are held, the activity of objects are studied in place on the eve of the tourist season.
"Prices form market economy and healthy competition. Though the ministry could not interfere in this process directly, it gives recommendations. And we get real results from this," Orujlu said.
For example, he said, in one of the largest recreation centers in the north of the country, the price for tourist services were reduced from 50 manat in 2009 to 40 manat in 2010.
Number of tourism companies in the country over the past five years has increased to 214, the number of hotels and hotel-type facilities, compared to 2005, increased almost twice - from 262 to 477, 80 percent of which are located the country's regions.
