CIS Interstate Council for Standardization, Metrology and Certification meets in Turkmenbashi

The 39th meeting of the Interstate Council for Standardization, Metrology and Certification of the Commonwealth of Independence States (CIS) opened in the tourist area in Avaza, Turkmenbashi.

The 39th meeting of the Interstate Council for Standardization, Metrology and Certification of the Commonwealth of Independence States (CIS) opened in the tourist area in Avaza, Turkmenbashi.
The forum participants will include representatives from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine, as well as observers of the major international organizations such as the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), the International Institute of Metrology (COOMET) and others.

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov gave the welcome address to the participants, expressing confidence in the fact that "constructive solutions will be found to urgent issues to promote and deepen mutually advantageous relations between friendly states during this meeting."
The Interstate Council is recognized by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the Euro-Asian Council for Standardization, Metrology and Certification (EASC), a regional organization for standardization, a per the ISO Council Resolution 26/1996.
The Interstate Council working body is the standardization bureau. It includes expert groups and the regional Center of Information.

More than 230 international technical committees for standardization were formed under this council.

Last year Turkmenistan was elected as Interstate Council Chair for 2010-2011.
