Tashkent holds the international conference "Toward the 6th World Water Forum - joint actions toward water security".
The conference aims at formulating and coordinating the regional agenda for the World Water Forum, scheduled for 2012 in Marseilles.
The program of a two-day conference includes such key priorities for Central Asia as the guaranteed and sustainable provision of the region with water, the balance of economic development and conservation, joint actions to ensure water security, innovations in the agricultural sector to ensure food security, cooperation in the sphere of management of transboundary waters on the basis of international water conventions.
Uzbek President Islam Karimov addressed the participants of the conference.
The Uzbek President called the preservation of nature for present and future generations, the need to protect the region against the threats and challenges, which could affect the lives of people and disrupt the existing system of environmental management, as the highest priority.
