Agricultural production insignificantly cheapens in Azerbaijan in April

In April, production prices for agricultural products decreased by 0.1 percent in Azerbaijan, compared to March, while during January-April increased by13.5 percent compared to the same period last year, the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee said on Saturday.
Production prices in general for livestock products increased by 0.3 percent in April compared to the previous month, while in first four months - by 11.6 percent compared to the same period last year. Cattle in live weight fell by 0.9 percent (by 9.4 percent compared to the same period last year), poultry in live weight and eggs - by 4.4 percent (21.4 percent). Prices for sheep and goats in live weight, their milk (unprocessed) and wool declined by 0.6 percent per month, but increased in January-April by 7.3 percent compared to the same period of last year.

Producer prices for cereals and legumes agricultural products rose by 0.6 percent during the month, during the year - by 28.5 percent, vegetables and melons - fell by 0.3 percent (increasing by 4.7 percent during the year), perennial plants - decreased by 1.4 percent (20.4 percent during the year).
Prices for forestry products in April fell by 5 percent during the month, during the year - by 2.2 percent, fish and fish products - by 2.4 percent, by 7.6 percent during the year.
The total cost of agricultural production based on actual prices in January-April amounted to 676.569 million manat, which is 19.4 percent more than the same period of last year.
In January-April 2011, the agricultural production in Azerbaijan increased by 5.2 percent compared to the same period of last year, including crop production - by 10.5 percent, livestock production - 5 percent.
The cost of forestry products based on actual prices during this period hit 392,900 compared to 442,300 manat in January-April last year, fishery - 56,100 manat compared to 50,000 manat.

The official exchange rate is 0.7907 manat to $1 on May 16.
