Industrial production hits 10 billion manat in Azerbaijan

The industrial production in Azerbaijan totaled 9.8 billion manat in January-April, which is 0.9 percent more than in 2010, the State Statistics Committee said.

The private sector's share increased to 79 percent of the total industrial production compared to the same period of 2010. Some 91.5 percent accounted for industrial production, and 8.5 percent for industrial services. Production in the non-oil industry grew by 10.7 percent.

During the report period, the volume of production in the extractive industry grew by 2.9 percent to 7.4 billion manat with a special weight of 75.4 percent of the total industrial production. The volume of oil during this period hit 15.9 million tons and natural gas - 8.4 billion cubic meters

The share of the processing industry was 1.8 billion manat, increasing by 5.3 percent.
In January-April, a significant increase was observed in motor vehicle, trailer and semitrailer production (by 1.67 times), electrical equipment production (2 times), metallurgical production (1.8 times) and chemical production (36.8 percent).

Also a significant increase of 8.4 percent was observed in food production. Sausage production grew by 3.4 percent to 631,600 tons, meat by 4.6 percent (84,800 tons), milk by 5.4 percent (233,100 tons), butter by 0.7 percent (6,900 tons), cheese and cottage cheese by 2.2 percent (14,600 tons), and sugar by 26.2 percent (107,400 tons).
