A 15-person Georgian delegation of wine company owners and travel company managers will visit the United States in order to discuss the development of wine tourism. The project was initiated by Betsy Haskell, Chair of the Tourism Department at the American Chamber of Commerce in Georgia and Tina Kezeli, Executive Director of the Association of Georgian Wines.
The project is organized by the American Chamber of Commerce and upon the economic well-being initiative of USAID. The delegation will visit Finger Leykssky District of New York, New York City and Sonoma County and the Northern California Wine Country.
The program aims to show delegates that successful cooperation between the wine industry, educational institutions and local governments may allow the region to offer visitors an unforgettable travel adventure. During the tour, the negotiators will discuss the creation of a local wine tasting culture, etc. The program aims to assist winemakers in the clear positioning of Georgia as the wine tourism country.
President of the American Chamber of Commerce David Lee said wine tourism in Georgia is relatively underdeveloped. He mentioned that analysis of more successful markets may be highly favorable for the country. The American Chamber of Commerce does everything to promote wine tourism.
The American Chamber of Commerce will hold the first official tasting of the best Georgian wines in New York City, at the Baryshnikov Center of Art on June 2. Later that evening The American Friends of Georgia, together with CORUS Imports and Georgian Wine House, will host a wine party for 150 guests.
