Iran's steel production growth rate in first six months of 2011 was 11.6 percent and reached to 6.63 million tons of steel, IRNA reported quoting Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) data.

According to latest reports issued by World Steel Association, Iran produced 1.5 million tons of steel on June and comparing to same time last year the volume increased by 12.6 percent the country over-passed the world's major steel producers in term of production growth.

During first six months of 2011 world steel production reached 757 million tons indicating 7.6 percent increase comparing last year.

Asia produced 484.8 million tons, while 72 percent of Asian market steel production belonged to China ,Europe produced 93.3 million tons on June and South America production reached 4.09 percent growth.
