Agricultural production increases by 10.2 percent in Azerbaijan per year

In January-July 2011, the agricultural production increased by 10.2 percent in Azerbaijan, including crop production - by 15.1 percent, livestock production - by 4.8 percent, the State Statistics Committee said .
As of August 8, the crop yield in Azerbaijan was 24.7 centner per hectare compared to 19.9 centner per hectare for the same period of 2010. It increased by 24.1 percent.

The wheat yield hit 25.1 centner per hectare or 26.1 percent more than last year.

As of August 8, about 2 million 287,951 tons of agricultural products (increased by 23.7 percent) were gathered from an area of 925,631 hectare (decreased by 0.6 percent).

In general, harvest is expected to be gathered from an area of 933,606 hectares, or 0.5 percent less than last year. The harvest was gathered from 99.2 percent of the total sown area.

About 1.635.385 tons of wheat were gathered during the reporting period (increased by 25.3 percent) with an area of 651,551 hectares (decreased by 0.6 percent). According to the recent data, about 99.6 percent of the area sown was worked up.

About 503,000 tons of potatoes (increased by 31,300 tons over the same period of last year), 709,400 tons of vegetables (increased by 55,600 tons), 144,800 tons of fruits and berries (increased by 4,000 tons), 308,000 tons of melons (increased by 62,800 tons), 338.1 tons of green tea leaves (reduced by 23.1 tons), 1.168.8 tons of tobacco (increased by 212.6 tons) were gathered from the fields.

About 243,300 tons of meat in live weight, 941,300 tons of milk, 590.6 million eggs, 14,600 tons of wool were produced in the field of animal husbandry for the first seven months.

Meat production increased by 5.5 percent in January-July this year compared to the same period of last year, milk - by 8.4 percent, wool - by 6.8 percent, eggs production declined by 16.8 percent.
