Iran's commodity exports to Iraq reach $155 million

Iran's commodity exports to Iraq from Mehran border market during the first six months of the current solar year reached $155 million, IRNA reported quoting Mehran city governor Valiullah Hayati as saying.

"Iran's commodity exports through the border market during this time weighed 485,000 tons, valued at $155 million, and indicated a 79 percent growth," he said.

Export commodities to Iraq include fruit, plastic, steel products, cement, mosaic, and Iran Khodro and SIAPA diesel products, he added.

He noted that export to Iraq through Mehran border is improving and the country seeks to export dairy products as well in near future.

Mehran border town is located 85 kilometers southwest of Ilam province, the main transit gateway to Iraq.

Iran non-oil exports during the first five months of the current solar year, reached $17 billon. Imports hit $22 billion.

According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Iran is the third largest country in the Middle East and Central Asia in terms of exports and imports.
