State Labour Inspectorate of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Azerbaijan starts an investigation with regards to the crash of airplane of Azerbaijani Silk Way Company in Afghanistan.
Akper Madatli, Deputy Chairman of Azerbaijani Atəşgah Həyat Life Insurance Company, which acts as an insurer of five members of the crew of the airplane on compulsory insurance from accidents in production, told reporters on Wednesday.
"The investigation aims to identify whether it is possible to classify this insurance case as an accident in production," said Madatli. According to him, the investigation, which also involves a representative of the Company, must begin soon.
"Upon completion of the investigation, the amount of the payment will be determined if the insured event will be classified as an accident in production," said Madatli.
He said the reinsurer for the contract is a German Hannover Life Re Reinsurance Company.
"Our two companies have an agreement for an automatic reinsurance. All of risks accepted by us are automatically transferred to the company," said Madatli.
The IL-76 airplane of the Azerbaijani Silk Way Air Company, crashed in Afghanistan in the night of July 6. Nine crew members and a total of 18 tons of cargo were onboard the plane which was en route from Baku to Bagram. The airplane picked up its cargo at the Baku Heydar Aliyev International Airport and took off at 21:26 (local time).
The airplane was built in 2005 with a carrying capacity of 40 tons and passed a full inspection in February 2011. It passed the subsequent inspection in June 2011.
The airplane had been insured by Azerbaijani İpək Yolu Sığorta Insurance Company.
The Interstate Aviation Committee in Moscow is now analyzing the flight data recorders to determine causes of the crash.
The names and ages of those who perished in the plane crash are:

2. Second pilot Oleg Marshihin (32)
3. Navigator Igor Chzhen (45)
4. Flight Engineer Vladimir Shatobin (42)
5. Airborne radio operator Ahmedjan Hajayev (56)
6. Flight operator Elnur Mahmudov (30)
7. Flight operator Tapdig Gahramanov (47)
8. Aeromechanic Afghan Rahimov (31)
9. Aeromechanic Mehman Huseynov (49)
Mahmudov, Gahramanov, Ragimov, Huseynov and Marshihin are Azerbaijani citizens.
