Georgian banking sector records increase in deposit volume

As of Sept.1, the total volume of deposits in the Georgian banking sector (including term deposits and current accounts of non-financial and households sectors, including payable interest) increased by 5.3 percent or 265.4 million lari to 5.3 billion lari compared to August, the National Bank of Georgia reported.

As of Sept.1, the total volume of deposits in the Georgian banking sector (including term deposits and current accounts of non-financial and households sectors, including payable interest) increased by 5.3 percent or 265.4 million lari to 5.3 billion lari compared to August, the National Bank of Georgia reported.

The volume of transferable deposits of non-financial and households' sectors increased by 227.7 million lari (11.9 percent) and term deposits of same sectors increased by 34.9 million lari (1.2 percent) in August compared to July.

The dollarization ratio of deposits constituted 67.4 percent as of Sept.1, decreasing by 0.3 percent compared to Aug.1.

The interest rate for national currency denominated deposits was 11.6 percent and the interest rate for foreign currency denominated deposits 8.4 percent.

The share of US dollar in the total volume of foreign currency denominated deposits equals to 74.5 percent and the share of Euro equals to 18.9 percent.
