Turkmenistan maintains inflation rate

The inflation rate of the national manat remains stable, Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov said on Monday at a government meeting.

The inflation rate of the national manat remains stable, Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov said on Monday at a government meeting.

The meeting focused on the development of the economic sector for three quarters of 2011.

Local experts note that the current monetary policy is a set of activities in the field of money circulation and credit, aimed to regulate economic growth, curb inflation and ensure employment and alignment of the balance of payments.

Berdimuhammedov said that fuel and energy sector is a basic sector of the economy for Turkmenistan, which has enormous reserves of energy.

The meeting reported that growth in oil and gas condensate production amounted to 107.5 percent and production of natural and associated gas -142.1 percent compared to the same period of 2010.

Focusing on the specific challenges facing the oil and gas sector, the Turkmen leader demanded to strengthen control over the course of a number of significant projects aimed at further increase in production, processing and export of hydrocarbon raw materials, production of quality petroleum products.
