Kazakhstan, Astana, Oct. 14 / Trend , A.Maratov /

Due to a shortage of cars, Kazakhstan was not able to sell half its grain harvest, Northern Grain Director Svetlana Karabanova told journalists on Friday.

"Elevators crammed to the limit and no one else is taking moist grain. It is absolutely no cars, as well as grain elevators and warehouses mill complexes, to unload," she said.

She said grain farms are in despair.

"The situation is complicated," she said.

Karabanova added that even with the support of the local authorities, it is difficult to resolve problems connected with filling cars to deliver grain from fields to elevators.

"As we have been explained part of the car fleet is being repaired, some engaged for the transportation of grain of the Food Contract Corporation and some stuck somewhere. And this lead to deficit," she said.
