Azerbaijani water operator, Korean gov’t sign grant agreement

Azerbaijani water operator JSC Azersu and Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade signed a grant agreement on a project of reconstruction of water and sewage systems in the Kurdakhani settlement in the Absheron Peninsula.

Azerbaijani water operator JSC Azersu and Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade signed a grant agreement on a project of reconstruction of water and sewage systems in the Kurdakhani settlement in the Absheron Peninsula.

The Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) will allocate a grant of $26.18 million to finance the project, Azersu told Trend on Friday. Azerbaijani government will reimburse the remaining costs of the project as additional funding.

The project will be implemented in 2011-2013. It is planned to build two reservoirs and a pumping station, as well as lay a water supply system with length of 24.8 km and sewer line of the same length at the expense of the Korean funds. At the same time local professionals are planned to attend training programs in Korea.

Document on behalf of the Azerbaijani government was signed by Azersu chairman Gorkhmaz Huseynov, and on behalf of Korea - Ambassador Lee Ji Ha.
