Despite resistance from employers, trade union organizations were established in nine foreign oil companies operating in Azerbaijan in last two years, Chairman of the Azerbaijani Trade Unions' Confederation Sattar Mehbaliyev said in his article published in the official press on Saturday.
"Azerbaijan has prepared a list of companies and organizations lacking trade unions. They are divided by area and work is underway to create trade unions here," he said.
He said 451 new trade union organizations were established over the past four years
and trade unions that unite more than 17 000 members were set up at more than 200 businesses and organizations over the past two years.
"Some 3,462 trade union organizations operate in companies with foreign capital and they unite 143,532 people," Mehbaliyev said.
