Kazakh-French company eager to increase uranium production in Kazakhstan

Kazakh-French joint venture KATCO should increase uranium production up to 4,000 tons starting from 2012, said president of the company-shareholder Areva Luke Urselb during a visit to the largest uranium mine in Kazakhstan Tortkuduk, developed by KATCO, the company said.

KATCO LLP is a joint venture between French company Areva (51 percent) and the National Atomic Company Kazatomprom (49 percent) was established in 1996.

It is one of the largest and leading mining uranium companies in the world with an annual output of more than 3,300 tons of uranium.
