European Economic Chamber promotes investment in Azerbaijan’s non-oil sector

The European Economic Chamber of Trade Commerce and Industry (EEIG) is keen to promote investment in Azerbaijan’s non-oil sector, EEIG Azerbaijan chief representative Nizami Piriyev told journalists today.

The European Economic Chamber of Trade Commerce and Industry (EEIG) is keen to promote investment in Azerbaijan's non-oil sector, EEIG Azerbaijan chief representative Nizami Piriyev told journalists today.

The Chamber has organised a workshop in Baku today on how to search and attract funding in international and local markets.

Mr. Piriyev said: "Azerbaijan is attractive for investors. Some 83 billion manat was invested in the country's economy over the past 10 years and it is estimated that 2012 will see an increase to 13.5 billion manat.

"The workshop is a first in Azerbaijan and its main purpose is to attract investment in the economy's non-oil sector."

The event has been sponsored by the PASHA Bank and the seminar will include high profile consultants such as Grant, Thornton, Simmons & Simmons who will offer advice in how to break into these markets successfully.

EEIG is an internationally operating non-governmental organisation established in Belgium in 1985. E and has been operating in Azerbaijan since 2008. Chamber activity in Azerbaijan is aimed at cooperation and know-how exchange between business communities of Azerbaijan and the EU.
