Chairman of the Airzena airline Mr. Tamaz Gaiashvili has criticised Tbilisi International airport's infrastructure saying it does not meet the standards to serve new aircraft.
Speaking to the press on Wednesday Mr, Gaiashvili said that a runway, a platform and the airport itself needs repairing. This comes in the wake of news that the airline and Boeing have formalised an agreement whereby the Georgian company will buy new airliners, the Boeing 737 which is excellent for short runways and the Boeing 787, the so-called Dreamliner.
Runway construction work will be undertaken by Tav Georgia and a representative said that negotiations on the agreement are underway with the Georgian government, details of which will be announced later.
