Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov held a meeting with President of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation Rustam Minnikhanov, who was on a visit to Ashgabat , the local media reported.
"Berdimuhammedov underscored special significance attached to enhancement and expansion of the traditional friendly, constructive dialogue with the Russian Federation and its largest regions, including Tatarstan that Turkmenistan was bound with long-term economic and cultural contacts based on historically established good neighborly relations and the firm ties of mutual respect and support," the Neytralniy Turkmenistan newspaper reported.
The sides had a constructive exchange of views on the current state and prospects for cooperation initially built on equality and mutual benefit.
Emphasizing that the bilateral collaboration had been intensified significantly in recent years, the leaders reaffirmed that the sides stood ready to step up further partnership in a wide spectrum of fields.
Minnikhanov said the business community of Tatarstan was keenly interested in expanding on the promising Turkmen market. "The favorable investment climate and the impeccable reputation of Turkmenistan, which had won the prestige of a conscientious and dependable business partner, provided fertile soil for this, he added.
