Uzbekistan Airways increases passenger transportation

Uzbekistan Airways has increased passenger transportation in the January-September by 7.7 percent to 1.727 million passengers and cargo transportation by 5.2 percent to 36,000 tons compared during the same period last year, the company reported on Wednesday.

Based on the information, passenger traffic from the country's airports has increased by 11.7 percent to 1.63 million, and goods traffic has jumped by 13 percent to 23,600 tons.

During the period, the airline performed 18.054 flights, that 246 flights more than the same period of 2010. Of the total figure 4.636 flights were made to foreign countries, 6,379 flights to the CIS countries and 7,039 flights- local destinations.

"Uzbekistan Airways" is the exclusive carrier in Uzbekistan. It is wholly owned by the state. The fleet has 26 planes in western production, including 10 Boeing (five 767-300 and five 757-200), eight Airbus A-310, three medium-RJ-85, and two cargo A300-600F.

Uzbekistan Airways increased the transportation of passengers by 14.3 percent up to 2.16 million passengers in 2010 compared to 2009. The passenger transportation to the CIS countries increased by over 11 percent. It also increased by 17 percent to the foreign countries. In 2010, aircrafts made 23,523 flights or 564 flights less than in 2009. The average passenger load per flight increased from 78 to 92 passengers.
