Georgia's state budget 2012 forecast at 7.673 billion lari

The parameters of Georgia's state budget-2012 will be set at 7.673 billion lari (1 lari is equivalent to $1). This is a consolidated budget for 2012, which is an increase on the previous year's budget. The sum was calculated on the basis of key priorities, Manana Mandjgaladze press secretary of the President, told a briefing on Tuesday.
She said the theme of budget will remain a tradition at her briefings until it is finally approved.
"We will consider several key areas. We will touch upon practically all fields, from agriculture, budget-planned education and energy projects to regional infrastructure. The State budget for 2012, together with the plan provided by the Government, envisions successive development and modernisation of the country; and the Government's key objective is to the resolve the unemployment problem," Miss Mandjgaladze reported.

She said a draft budget had already been submitted for consideration to the Parliament. Nevertheless, Parliament and the public will have the opportunity to be actively involved in its examination over next six weeks.

In line with the Government's decision, large infrastructural projects will be carried out in the regions of Kaheti, Ahaltsikh, Borjomi, Gori, Telavi, Zugdidi, Mtskhete, Kutaisi, Rache, and Guriya, she noted.

"At least two or three projects will be implemented in every region in 2012," Miss Mandjgaladze concluded.
