The next meeting of the group responsible for the talks on Azerbaijan's association agreement with the EU will take place in February, Deputy Foreign Minister Mahmud Mammadguliyev told Trend on Monday.

"Today, the talks are conducted by videoconference, and the next meeting is scheduled for February," Mammadguliyev reported.

The association membership talks began last July.

The EU intends to conclude such agreements with each South Caucasian country separately.

The content of each agreement will depend on the depth of each country's cooperation with the EU.

The association agreement includes the following four directions: political dialogue; justice and human rights defense; economic and socio-humanitarian issues; and trade.

The latter will provide the opportunity for full export of Azerbaijani produces to EU states. Azerbaijan has already been enjoying preferences of duty-free export of several thousands of items of its produces to EU states but, regretfully, the quality of goods remains the key problem.

The FMs of the three South Caucasian countries attended an annual session of the EU Council of Cooperation with South Caucasian countries in Brussels on Sept. 30, 2009. At that meeting, decision was taken to provide association memberships to the South Caucasian countries.
