EU is the largest trade partner of Kazakhstan

The European Union is the top trade partner of Kazakhstan over five years, Kazakh Ministry of Economic Development and Trade told Trend.

"In 2010 Kazakhstan exported to EU goods worth $31 billion (54 percent of total Kazakh export) and imported goods in the amount of $7 billion from this region (30 percent of total Kazakh import)," the ministry said.

Kazakhstan's other trade partners include Russia with 17.8 percent and China with 15.8 percent.

The top trade European partners of Kazakhstan are Italy with trade turnover of $11 billion, France with $5 billion, the Netherlands with $ 4.5 billion, Germany with $3.5 billion, Austria with $2.8 billion, and Britain with $2 billion.

EU is also the largest investor in Kazakhstan economy. The third of all investment accumulated by the Kazakhstan in 2010 came from EU.

The largest European investors in Kazakhstan are the Netherlands which in 2010 invested $6 billion in Kazakh economy, France ($1.5 billion), Britain ($1 billion), Italy (over $600 million), Switzerland (roughly $500 million), Belgium ($400 million) and Germany ($200 million).
