GM Uzbekistan sold 791,479 cars to Russia in January-October 2011, or 30 per cent more than the figure of the same period in 2010, the Automobile Manufacturers Committee of the Association of European Businesses said on Monday.
The consortium sold 46,570 Nexia cars in January-October, an increase of 30 per cent and 32,909 Matiz small cars, an increase of 30 per cent. It should be noted that about 7856 cars at the Uzbek car plant were sold to the Russian market in October which is an increase of 18 per cent, the report said.
According to the Committee, Nexia car sales increased by 16 per cent - up to 4666 and Matiz cars - by 21 per cent up to 3190 in October.
According to the information, GM Uzbekistan ranked tenth in sales volumes to Russia for the first 10 months of this year. Nexia ranked ninth among the best sold cars, whilst Matiz is sixteenth.
UzDaewooAuto was established in 1996 on a parity basis by the Uzbek government and South Korea's Daewoo Motor Company.
At present, JV GM Uzbekistan produces seven models of cars, three models of which are Chevrolet - Captiva, Epica and Spark.
GM Uzbekistan increased production of automobiles by 6.2 per cent in 2010 to 217,733 cars. The company decreased production of the Nexia model by 3.9 per cent to 87,100 units and the Damas model by 11.6 per cent to 20,900 units.
At the same time, production of the Matiz models increased by 5.6 per cent to 72,999 units. The enterprise produced 23,917 Lacetti model cars, a 23.3 per cent increase, 3185 Epica modesl which is 2.9 times up and 1835 Captiva modesl, 66.8 per cent up on 2010.
