A workshop on Water Resources Management System in Turkmenistan was held in Ashgabat with the organization support of the Water Resources Department of Turkmenistan and the South Korean Embassy, Turkmenistan's government reported on Friday.
The event brought together representatives of concerned ministries and country's departments - agriculture department, water department, ministry of public utilities, environmental protection department and local administration department.
The Korean delegation included leaders and leading specialists of government bodies and research centers in the sphere of environmental industries and technologies.
The sides exchanged experience in developing and creating integrated system of efficient water use and management, developing appropriate infrastructure in the context of taking of preventive measures in relation to climate change.
Korean Ambassador to Turkmenistan Ahn Myung-soo said at a meeting about "high growth and productivity of the bilateral Turkmen-Korean cooperation which has huge potential in a wide range of areas, particularly in such a strategically important area as water resources."
According to Myung-soo, a joint project of water-purifying device installation in the Sahra village of the Akhal velayat (region) recently completed.
Participants in the workshop were given national overviews of implemented policies in the sphere of efficient management and use of water resources with emphasis on such aspects as the expansion of the industrial infrastructure to produce high-quality drinking water, water supply and secondary use of treated waste water, the maintenance of ecological balance in this area.
