Turkish car industry ups by 9 per cent in 2011

The Turkish car industry increased by 9 per cent in 2011 compared to 2010, Turkey's Automotive Industry Association reported today.

According to the report, about 1.189 million cars were manufactured in Turkey in 2011.

Turkey's car market increased by 15 per cent in 2011 compared to 2010. The country's car market decreased by 13 per cent in Dec, 2011 compared to Dec, 2010.

The market of commercial motor cars increased by 8 per cent in 2011 and decreased by 20 per cent in Dec, 2011.

The market of trucks increased by 44 per cent in 2011, buses - by 66 per cent and market of heavy commercial cars - by 44 per cent.

The sale of cars increased by 17 per cent in 2011 and hit 414,310 units. About 70 per cent of this volume fall to the share of imported cars.

The export of cars increased by 5 per cent in 2011 and hit 1.234 million units.
