Azerbaijan to build thousands of apartments for disabled

Azerbaijan will build thousands of apartments for the disabled in 2012, Minister Fizuli Alekperov said in an interview published inofficial press on Thursday.
"Today, apartments are given to about 5000 disabled and the families of martyrs. In addition, 3,250 people with disabilities have been provided with vehicles, and more than 7,500 people have been given wheelchairs," Alekperov said.
Alekperov added that the growth of disabilities in the country has almost halted, and the rate of rehabilitating disabled people has grown to six percent in recent years.
"According to the WHO, today the share of people with disabilities in the world is 10 percent. The figure for Azerbaijan is 4.4 percent, which is the lowest in the CIS," he said.
