Iran has launched a new jet fuel production unit at the western Kermanshah Oil Refinery, which has the capacity to produce 450,000 liters per day.

Deputy Oil Minister Alireza Zeighami made the announcement in an interview with the Mehr news agency, adding that the jet fuel output will meet the needs of the country's western provinces and its surplus can be exported to neighboring countries.

Iran started hiking up its jet fuel production capacity after U.S.

President Barack Obama signed into law in December the toughest ever U.S. sanctions on Iran aimed at choking off Tehran's access to refined petroleum product imports.
