Changes in supervisory board of Unibank expected

During the next meeting of the Supervisory Board (SB) of Azerbaijani Unibank, which will be held on Feb 29 in Baku, the rotation of the Board's members will be considered, Unibank told Trend on Tuesday.

The agenda of the upcoming meeting includes issues such issues as approval of the reports of the Board and the Audit Committee for 2011, solution of question of recapitalization and use of bank profits over 2011, as well as rotation of the members of the Supervisory Board.

"It is expected that Jalal Gasymov who will become deputy chairman of the SB will be included on the bank's supervisory board. It should be noted that Mr Gasymov had been chairman of the board of Bank of Baku in 2008-2011," the Bank said.

It also should be noted that chairman of the Unibank SB is Eldar Garibov who owns 50.81 per cent of the bank's stock.

Unibank was established on Oct. 15, 2002 as a result of a merger between the MBANK and PROMTEKHBANK private commercial banks. Unibank is a universal finance and credit institution offering retail and corporate services.

The shareholders of the bank are 11 individuals (76.52 per cent), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (15.15 per cent) and the German Investment Corporation DEG (8.33 per cent).
